As the proud founder of Ayoko World Market, my identity is birthed from the vibrant seeds of Ivorian and Black Creole heritage. Growing up in the heart of New Orleans, I was nurtured by an Ivorian mother and a father steeped in Creole traditions of this dynamic city.

My roots run deep, shaped by my upbringing in my mother’s African hair braiding salon here in New Orleans. Surrounded by inspiring Black women from across Africa, I absorbed invaluable lessons in beauty, hygiene, and the diverse culinary treasures of the continent.

As I grew, so did my understanding and curiosity. This led me on a transformative journey—one shaped by frequent trips back home to West Africa and heartfelt conversations with elders who carried oral truths on their tongues. These experiences awakened me to a wealth of knowledge and culture that had been silenced for too long. Growing up in America, I often encountered systems that sought to confine my identity to an oppressive narrative, leaving me disconnected from the richness of my ancestry.

Ayoko World Market is more than a business—it’s an ode to my heritage and a bridge between cultures. It is a voice, a revival, and a celebration of the stories of those who came before me. It honors my lost Native American grandmother, whose story remains shrouded in silence, and my West African Ivorian grandmother, Ayoko, who passed down the oral history that became my guide. Inspired by their resilience, I’ve cultivated a deep love for Indigenous cultures, recognizing the interconnectedness of their traditions and the wisdom they carry.

Named in honor of my grandmother Ayoko—a visionary entrepreneur—this endeavor is inspired by her legacy of strength and entrepreneurial spirit.

Guided by a commitment to sustainability, community connection, and ethical sourcing, I curate a collection that highlights both local artisans and international fair trade brands. Ayoko World Market also celebrates the art of tea, offering a selection of hand-crafted blends that honor Indigenous African and Indigenous American traditions. Our teas, including the beloved yaupon holly and infusions of Djeka leaves, bring to life stories steeped in culture and healing. We also proudly feature lemongrass tea-infused African black soap, a product that beautifully intertwines wellness and heritage.

Ayoko World Market aspires to create a space where individuals can explore, learn, and celebrate the beauty of our shared humanity.

Welcome to Ayoko World Market—a reflection of cultures united, a bridge to the past, and a celebration of art, wisdom, and tradition.
